Welcome to the beautiful Southern United Kingdom, where you can experience the best golf courses Southampton has in store for you and your family and friends.

Home to both new and old courses that wrote golf history, there is a course for everybody's standards and skill levels.

Many courses are easily accessible from city centres by the main road and other transport links. Oh, and the flora and especially fauna of these courses will leave you speechless.

Since the core philosophy of golf courses is to integrate into surrounding nature, the local wildlife is bound to come and visit, and deer is the main guest most often. All this is why you should come to Southampton to play your favourite game with your loved ones.

Best Golf Courses In Southampton

The Southampton area today has few golf courses that are distinct for their pedigree and overall service that they provide.

Many of these courses have been hosts of the world's most important golf tournaments, so checking out where the professional golfers have been testing their skills is a must on every golfer's book.

So, without further ado, let's see what Southampton has in store for us, shall we?

1. South Winchester Golf Club

Address: Romsey Road, Winchester SO22 5QX, United Kingdom

First on our list is one of the most respected golf country clubs in England, South Winchester Golf Club. It is in a beautiful location in the Hampshire general area, surrounded by six lakes, and you will have views that no other course can rival.

This championship course is friendly for all types of golfers, from regular players and recreational golf enthusiasts to semi and competitive golf players who are looking for a challenge and serious training.

The proof of this club's pedigree is in the club competitions and regular competitions such as the British Open Champion and tours that are held all around the world.

The main characteristics of this beautiful course include two golf sections of nine easy-to-walk-around holes over 200 acres of flattish, links-style terrain with the addition of ditches and an excellent draining system that enables play all year round.

For experienced players, I recommend an eight-bay covered range of newly refurbished courses with updated mats and balls. If you feel like practicing, you can do that in their short game practice area, putting green and driving nets.

If you, by chance, forgot your gear and clubs, worry not because there is a pro shop inside of the facility where you can rent clubs or buy new ones of great value.

Also, when you feel like you do not want to carry clubs, there is a buggy hire and trolley rental service, and when you finish, there is a hot shower. All this is why this is one of the best local clubs around.

2. Wickham Park Golf Club

Address: Titchfield Ln, Wickham, Fareham PO17 5PJ, United Kingdom

The next one on the list is Wickham Park Golf Club, located in Hampshire. This club is filled with golf-related amenities that you will love. Here, you can find a par 69 golf course that is pretty flat but is more suitable to players who prefer tactics and strategies than long hits.

The club is host to many professional events and various competitions

If you need some practice before your game or just want to keep your game on a high level even on rainy days, there are multiple practice areas

This includes a 12-bay covered range, with balls available from the pro shop, along with a 50-70 yard chipping area and a separate putting green.

Also, you should get active subscriptions for direct membership in the club because season ticket holders get extra benefits.

One of the perks of active membership is access to the club before 11 am, which some players will certainly appreciate so they can avoid a busy day on the course.

For leisure activities, I recommend the clubhouse. This is one of the leisure venues where you can enjoy your lunch, social events and business functions. For all further queries, contact the club directly and get an active subscription.

3. Bramshaw Golf Manor Course

Address: Bramshaw Golf Club, Brook, Lyndhurst SO43 7HE, United Kingdom

Bramshaw Golf is a famous municipal golf course that has a long history that many senior players will tell younger members about with a smile on their faces.

Manor Course is a newer course on this old property that opened in 1971 and has been hosting all of the players that flock here from around the world since then.

The course landscape of fairways and greens is decorated with two-hundred-year-old hardwood trees, which adds a special atmosphere to this excellent course.

Also, its gentle undulation is going to be interesting for golfers of all levels of experience since precise shot selection is imperative.

The sight of the surrounding landscape of “Winterbourne” Shepherds Gutter splitting the centre of the course and ancient woodlands of Popes is a perfect backdrop for your game, if you ask me.

Aside from flora, the fauna of the course is also interesting, as it includes deer, guinea fowl, Nuthatches, and local bees "employed" to pollinate wildflowers of the course. If you are lucky, you will maybe even see shy peacocks roaming around the course.

4. Bramshaw Golf Forest Course

Address: Bramshaw Golf Club, Brook, Lyndhurst SO43 7HE, United Kingdom

As we said before, Bramshaw Golf Club is the oldest in the Hampshire area. The older course of the two, the famous Forest course, was built in 1865, which is going to enrich any golfers' list because it will probably be the oldest course that they ever played in.

Its interesting design has been a staple of modern courses. The open aspects, rolling heathland, hollows and meandering streams have been testing golfers for more than a hundred years.

This course also has wildlife visiting it from time to time, including ponies, donkeys, cows, and deer, which certainly helps create a calm atmosphere. All this is why this is one of the golf courses Southampton has to offer.
